The sumptuous food prepared by The Illustrated Chef BBQThe Illustrated Chef kicks off BBQ Season with a 50th Wedding Anniversary

So this was our first private party as we hit BBQ season and what a glorious day it was, the sun was belting down. Myself , big Al and Katia were raring to go.

So we descended on Christine Boyd’s quaint home in Henley On Thames for Christine’s and her husbands 50th wedding anniversary. The set up was little more rustic and laid back than we are used, but welcomed all the same.

The menu consisted of:

Canapés

• madras chicken skewers with pomegranate yoghurt
• lamb kofta with mint mascarpone
• Thai prawns
• mozzarella and slow roast tomato tartlets

Main

• slow cooked pork shoulders x 2
• seitan steaks for the much loved vegans
• slaw
• heritage tomato salad
• pan fried potatoes

Dessert

• chocolate pots
• burnt fruit platters

Head Chef Darren lighting the grill and kicking off BBQ seasonAll 70 guests lapped it up, and if we could of joined in with the mountain of Prosecco we would have!

April ladies and gentleman is not the cold rainy month it once was. If I had my speedos, the Thames would of been a possibility – although as my summer body is still in preparation for 2020, I think passers by would of choked on their ice creams.
